How To Make Mushy Peas At Home

Instructions
Put the peas, salt, sugar, sliced or whole mint leaves, and boiling water in a pan.
Simmer for 25 minutes, or until the peas are thick and mushy.
Give the peas a stir from time to time.
Add the butter and roughly mash the peas using a potato masher, or use a blender.
The sauce will thicken even more as the peas cool.
If not, simply boil for a few minutes more to thicken.
Taste the mushy peas and season with salt as desired. If desired, some black pepper might be added.
A few tablespoons of vinegar poured on top of the peas after cooked is also a great addition. (Optional)
To the prepared mushy peas, add a few additional fresh mint leaves.
Serve with homemade fish and chips.
